COMMUNITY SERVICE CORNER

There are 4 national mandates....So get involved!!

1.) Adopt-A-School

Block

The purpose of the Adopt-A-School program is simple. It is a way for NBLSA to give back to the community and make a difference in a child's life. Chapters can sponsor school supply drives, seasonal parties, street law classes, mentor programs, etc . . .It is a great program for any and every chapter!!

2.) Voter Registration

Liberty Bell

Elections impact each local BLSA chapter and its community at some point during the academic year. The challenge of educating our communities on the importance of exercising our right to vote  lies in the hands of each chapter. Facilitate the voter registration and voting process by organizing a drive.

3.) Bone Marrow/Blood Drive

Heart

There is a special need for volunteer donors from Black, Asian, Pacific Islander, Hispanic, and Native American communities. The National Marrow Donor Program (NMDP) was created in 1987 to provide marrow transplants from volunteer donors unrelated to patients with leukemia, aplastic anemia, lymphomas, and other life threatening diseases.  Blood Banks such as the American Red Cross is always looking for donations to keep their banks filled. Simply assemble your membership, travel to your nearest donation center, and give!

4.) Street Law

Welcome Mat

Street Law is when law students and their professor provide young people with information about the law that would assist them in their daily lives. The founders selected the name Street Law to represent the content of the course-- practical law important in a person’ s everyday life, on the street. It was also selected because it was believed that it would be an attractive name for high school students.
